New to the Harry/Draco shipping?

Newbies might want to check out the 25 most widely read H/D fics in fandom (September, 2007). There is also a compilation list of H/D Classics (LINK FIXED) with over 225 fics. If you are looking for a shorter reading list, the H/D Shipper Bookshelf (posted in 2006) might work better for your needs. Additionally, sulky_rhino's Portal of Rec Lists is particularly useful for H/D fics written after the Half Blood Prince.

After getting your toes wet, pretty much any of the rec lists linked are fair game. Sure, you might not agree with *everyone's* recs but I'm sure you'll find at least a few reccers you tend to agree with. So jump in!

New to H/D on LiveJournal?
When it comes to LJ most peeps are a bit at a loss on where to start. To get the ball rolling, there is hogwarts_today and the daily_snitch, daily newspapers that keeps track of fandom occurences. Oh- and there is the hd_prophet for specific H/D news (♥).  A general Harry Potter LJ newbie guide can be found here.

When it comes to shipper communities, harrydraco is the biggest with over 4300 members. If you have any fic searches or general questions its pretty much the best place to post them. Several searches tend to be posted every single day and surprisingly, there's usually somebody around willing to help newbies.

If you'd like to know about the authors of all those brilliant fics you're reading, do give the hd_directory a look. Reviews by shippers of H/D authors with *recs* of favorite works of fanfiction. Oh, and you might be interested in hd_icons for your shipper icon needs :) I also encourage friending a rec journal or two to not only keep track of the fics coming out but to make sure you don't miss the *best* ones.

In any case, I do hope you enjoy yourself here @ LJ- the H/D community is just *awesome* when you throw yourself into it and it really doesn't take much to get us squeeing, jumping around or just pumping our fists into the air yelling "Hell yeah!"
