Recently watched anime titles...

Over the past few months I've given several anime titles a second try.

Here are the ones I either completed OR watched 20+ episodes: One Piece, Gintama, Darker than Black, Persona Trinity Soul, Ghost Hound, Mushishi, Le Chevalier d'Eon and the latest one is Ghost Hunt (had to skip the first three episodes which were BLAH but the rest of the series was like a Supernatural/X-Files/Ghost Busters anime)

Am trying Princess Tutu next in the hopes that it becomes less standard shoujo fare in later episodes...

I have been pleasantly surprised by several new anime titles this season, but am unfortunately not quite enamored by a few faves on the flist (Gundam 00 - second season, Casshern Sins, Kurozaku, Yozakura Quartet). Will probably wait till they're done and marathon them.

Here's what I Sort of Like...or might end up stopping and marathoning later:
  • Ga-rei Zero- very much WTF episode endings
  • Kurogane no Linebarrel - horrible animation, generic plot. I'm one of the few peeps who LIKED Gundam Seed (marathoned the series) so had no probs with the character designs. But the animation quality is just so BAD ;_;
  • Mouryou no Hako - can't figure out the plot
  • Shikabane Hime Aka - voice actors feel a bit flat >_>
  • Tales of the Abyss - I don't like the ending of the game its based on so I might wait till it finishes airing and then marathon.
  • Tytania - wish the pace was faster though
Medium Like
  • Hakushaku to Yousei
  • Kuroshitsuji
  • Michiko to Hatchin
  • Skip Beat - the animation is AWFUL but the manga is one of the few shoujo titles I follow so *shrugs*
Like a LOT
  • Hyakko
  • To Aru Majutsu no Index - why do leads always have the power to NEGATE other powers? It happened in Gakuen Alice and even in MxO and now here too. But it' not bad so far ^_^
  • Toradora

Details about the shows can be found here or here. Please note that all three of my "Like a Lot" titles were a complete surprise XD I hadn't even paid attention to them in the previews haha

Though I can't believe the shoujo-ish stuff is winning out at the moment *headdesk*

The only thing that is airing from previous seasons that I keep up with on a week to week basis is Soul Eater. Initially the series had been on my "Might Drop" list but as it progressed, I got used to the art and I've gotten interested in most of the characters, both male and female. And the females are just as kick ass as the males. Though I do ship Death the Kid and Black Star together XD

If you have any faves to rec, feel free to pass them along! My list of other stuff I've watched/completed can be found on this post.
Have watched Whistle and read the manga and wished there were more episodes (I adore generic sports!anime lolol)

I watched the first 50 or 60 eps of KKM but it seems to lack any main plot and I'm not all that enamored by any of the characters except Gunter (who has some of the least screen time ;_;) - plus I don't like Yuri/Wolfram and would much rather see Conrad/Yuri or Gunter/ANYONE.

Obviously, I've spent WAY too much time wondering why KKM doesn't click for me XD
I would recommend Time of Eve at some point. I've enjoyed the episodes that have been released and while the format is different (eventually 6 episodes, 15 minutes), I'm currently in fangirl agony that more haven't been released.
I like my shows long - 20+ eps, half an hour lengthwise, but will check it out XD
Ah, you actually need to read the Ga-Rei manga first so you can understand it. The series is most probably a prequel to the manga or they're going down an AU plot.

LOL! I can't believe you subject yourself to Lolbarrel. I took one look at the animation quality and decided not to watch it.

Have you ever watch Noein? You can try Tactics, too.

I'd love to hear your opinion on Persona Trinity Soul and Le Chevalier d'Eon. ^^
From the fall I am definitely watching

Casshern Sins (not my favorite but I like the visual style and it is interesting).

Michiko to Hatchin- I actually loved this but I think I am into quirky non-conventional relationships and I also like the setting,

Nodame Cantabile: Followed the 1st season

On my maybe list is: Kurozuka, Tytania and Mouryou no Hako.

I would give Mouryou no Hako a couple more episodes apparently the 1st episode just sets the stage for the rest of the series from what I heard.

I think I am going to save Hyakko for later. It's cute but I am following too many series right now. :)

And I hope you like Princess Tutu. It definitely is shoujo just not standard shoujo.
Oh, Chevalier D'Eon, the hours of amusement you gave us...the bad, bad jokes...*nostalgic sigh*

Also, I can't remember if you've seen Baccano or not, but if you haven't, it's AMAZING.
JR is one of those I'm marathoning XD Glad the raw is out though! Need to watch season 1 and 2 back to back once they're done :)
Priness Tutu comes in two halves. The first half is a standard shoujo tale that ends at episode 13 (the last couple of episodes of that one are really good, with a great showdown heroine and villainess). This half is the little girl half.

The second half of the series is what makes this a truly great anime. It takes the first half and deconstructs it, becoming a story about what it means to live within a story, and the responsibility or storyteller and writer, and it's told so well that by the end I was a complete emotional mess. This half is the adult half.

It's worth watching to the end. It's one of my favorite anime of all time. :)
