LJ skins, comics

[001] Made a post on noveltybox about custom styles for LJ - not layouts but rather, userscripts to change the way the homepage, default coment pages etc. look on your own computer. Here are the pics:

My skin:

Plus the before and after for the comments area, though I still need to replace the icons.

[002] Comms I need to read but keep missing:

metafandom | fanthropology | dw-news | dw_styles
recsrainbow | debut2009 | fangs_fur_fey

Whether I track them or add them to feeds or the flist, I still don't keep up *headdesk*

[003] I'd forgotten how time consuming it can be to do icons I'm happy with as opposed to working on CSS for a layout or something. I'm definitely happier when doing the latter. Still, halfway done with the FMA icons so \o/

[004] Have been going through old X-Men and Spiderman cartoons and comics and was surprised by how much I kept wishing Shadowcat/Kitty Pryde was in X-Men: the Animates Series instead of Jubilee. Oh and saw the old pilot Pryde of the X-Men after years and years - Brotherhood of Mutant Terrorists? WTF, LOL.

But I still can't seem to watch past the first episode of the new Wolverine & The X-Men *shudder*

Expect a pimping post for some spiffy comic!iconmakers on LJ though!

[005] Between the wiki entries on Hollywood Accounting and proposals aimed at rewriting the rules of the music industry, I can't help thinking that with or without piracy, its not going to make a difference to the amount the artists/musicians/scriptwriters etc. receive from the studios

[006] Also can't help but feel that if the media had not made such a big deal about the Wolverine:Origins leak, there wouldn't have been as many people downloading the damn movie. There weren't too many people who were aware of Hulk getting leaked before the release >_> Sure Wolvie is a bigger name but still, hearing about it on the radio in the morning and evening does not help the situation IMO.

Man! I remember the hype on that! I just remembered that, before then, we only had the X-Men that appeared occasionally on Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends. I remember by PotXM got so much wrong, yet was still so right--and it was a loooooooooong time before any one did better drawing-wise.

But I still can't seem to watch past the first episode of the new Wolverine & The X-Men *shudder*

I like that show. ~shrug~ I don't, however, like Wolverine's voice.

Oh yes, I like the art in PotX much more than TAS and I really like Magneto's voice in it and Storm's in comparison :) Don't know why they have such a hard time finding the right voice for Wolvie tho ( in both PotX and the new series)

I'm not sure why but the show rubs me wrong - should probably give it another chance later and marathon the eps >_> I love the art *_*

I'm wondering if there's a gallery somewhere online for comic book covers 'cause damn, there's some beautiful stuff in recent years...
Yeah, I was rec'd Grant Morrison's X-Men run by someone who, like me, prefers pre-nonsense Claremont. While I liked it, I didn't think it was all that, but mainly that's because some of the 'end results' I had already known happened.

We had speakers come to our school for our 3D division, and they usually always say the same thing: artists need to learn how to tell stories. That was the big thing 4-5 years ago, and I guess that's still an issue.

I look at Morrison's X-Men [which I have a .cbr format if you'd like them] and I tend to agree. Lots of forced "backwards writing" because of the artist rendering.

I think that's why I couldn't be a comic book writer. I'd work with full-on scripts; ie. "Page 1,panel 1: so-and-so says this, and this happens in the panel". I bet some artists--read: most of them--would find that stifling. But if more writers did that, there'd probably be less of this 'backwards writing' where they have to explain what happened in the off-panels because in one scene Cyclops and Xorn are tied up in some prison camp, then the next time you see them, they're in some tunnel, running away with one of their captors in tow.

Bah!

But any way... I digress. Yeah, I agree with the marathon-thing. I caught a mini-marathon of WatXM and that's probably why I liked it. I hate waiting for weeks to see if something is worth watching. I think I would have hated "Merlin" and "Being Human" were it not for my having access to the entire season at once.
aww, it's look pretty!
Thanks for sharing the codes :D
[001] DUUUUUDE you eventually plan to participate in making DW styles if you ever move, right? I especially love the header for that :D.

[006] This is so true. I think pretty much every movie worth its salt is leaked in some form before or immediately after its official release. I guess media outlets saw Fox's unusually paranoid treatment of leaks for this movie in particular, and thought it would make great reading alongside news of the leak, and they therefore just made it worse.
